Matt Berquist

Matt is a senior at UMass this year, pursuing a degree in Political Science and Legal Studies as well as a minor in Spanish. Prior to becoming the Attorney General, Matt spent two years in the Judicial Advisers Office helping students who faced allegations that they violated the Code of Student Conduct. In his capacity as a Judicial Adviser, Matt disposed of hundreds of cases both at a conference level and at hearings, fighting aggressively to protect students’ rights and to achieve the best possible outcome for each individual. In addition to now running the Judicial Adviser’s Office, he hopes to establish a student Bill of Rights, institute an appeals process for cases originating in Residence Life, as well as reinstate the Student Legal Services Office’s ability to defend students facing criminal charges. Matt will work tirelessly to make sure that every UMass student’s rights are protected and that students always come first. Outside of the office, Matt enjoys deep sea fishing, athletics, and traveling.
