UMass SGA

My name is Zac Broughton and it is an honor for me to serve as the 2013-2014 President of the Student Government Association. Thank you so much for visiting the SGA website, where I hope you will get a chance to meet some motivated, engaged, and dedicated student leaders as well as see the work that the SGA continues to do on behalf of all students.

I am a Senior Political Science and Legal Studies double major and I have worked in the SGA for the last three years. I spent my first two years serving as a Senator working on the Ways and Means Committee and this past year as the Secretary of Finance. This year will also be my third year as an RA as I move over to the new Commonwealth Honors College Residential Community. I am a proud Brother of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and I love politics, food, and the Red Sox.

For the last three years, I have worked with various campus leaders to implement RSO finance reform, greater SGA transparency and accountability, as well as to spread the overall name and services of the SGA. With the new Executive Cabinet it is my sincere hope that we can continue the progress made on finance reform while fighting to increase student involvement in university governance, promote diversity and diversity awareness, enhance campus security measures, implement reasonable construction schedules, expand cheaper student parking, increase school pride, and more.
