Greetings, UMass! I am Kabir Thatte and I will be happily serving all of you as the Secretary of Public Relations and Recruitment (Outreach) for the 2013-2014 academic year. I am a political science major, currently with a minor in Aerospace Studies. I have also been born and raised in Massachusetts, living in Medfield since 1998.
Here on campus, I am a Cadet in the United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 370, the “Flying Minutemen.” As of right now, my plans after graduating include commissioning in the Air Force and giving my time and service for the country and its citizens. I am the Vice Commander of Bunce Squadron, a chapter of Arnold Air Society, as well as the Event Organizer for the Political Science Undergraduate Board (PSUB). I am a member of the Commonwealth Honors College, participate in the jazz program, and have been part of several elections, including a local selectman election in the town of Medfield, as well as a part of the Joe Kennedy for Congress campaign.
Within the Student Government Association, I served as a Senator out of Central and as the Vice Chairman of the Diversity and Student Engagement Committee (DSEC) last year (my freshman year).
I am very excited to be a part of the SGA Cabinet, and I know that along with the rest of the team, we will be fulfilling all of your best interests. My priorities this year include expanding voter participation, recruiting a more diverse student government, and promoting events campus-wide, so we may connect the students even more.
Please feel free to contact me at any time – I will always be happy to answer questions, aid with concerns, or just grab a cup of coffee. My email is: kpthatte@gmail.com
