Cameron Kackley

I am a sophomore from Upton, Mass. I am majoring in Economics with minors in Math and French, and I am also looking to obtain an International Relations Certificate. My interest in sustainability issues comes from my father who is a civil engineer dealing with areas of sustainability such as waste water treatment plants.

When I got to UMass, I took an Environmental Science course that really got me interested in the environment and sustainability. During the Spring of 2011, I became an Eco-Rep, and enjoyed weekly discussions about environmental issues both on campus and worldwide. Being an Eco-Rep gave me the opportunity to be the SGA Secretary of Sustainability for the upcoming year.

My main goal for the year, and my first priority for the Fall is to continue pushing the Bike Share in the right direction. This includes making it as user friendly as possible and expanding it around campus. Another goal is to expand and improve Earth Day, finding out what worked last year and what can be made better. Another goal is to increase student involvement in sustainability. This can be through the Eco-Rep program or campus clean up days. Finally, I would like to create lasting relationships with other SGA members, staff, and faculty throughout this year.
