About the Committee
The Finance Committee exists as an entity whose sole purpose is to address monetary limitations placed on Student Organizations. The Committee uses the Student Government Association’s Financial Reserves sustained via the Student Activities Trust Fund to provide emergency funding on an absolute last resort basis.
Student Organizations seeking funding must fill out and submit this fiscal year’s iteration of the Finance Packet and Finance Reserves Budget Request Form, alongside a copy of their most recent Budget Fee Account Page, to the Chair of the Finance Committee at least 48 hours prior to the designated committee meeting time. The Chair will then proceed to confirm a meeting, via email, with representatives from the respective organization to be held during the predetermined meeting time. During the meeting, representatives will be asked to describe the purpose of the request and elaborate on how the desired funding will assist the organization in achieving its relevant goal. Following the discussion, the representatives present will be asked to depart momentarily as the committee delegates over the request. With a final decision made, the individuals will be notified of the total allocation and asked, in accordance with the SGA bylaws, to deliberate before the Senate at the next scheduled Senate meeting if the summation of funding is in excess of $750.00. Any amount less than or equal to $750.00 will not require approval of the Senate and will be filed for by the Chairperson at the conclusion of the committee meeting.

Please fill out both this fiscal year’s SGA Finance Packet and the Finance Reserves Budget Request Form and email both, alongside a copy of your organizations’s FY13 Budget Fee Account Page, to the Chairperson of the Finance Committee at least 48 hours prior to the designated weekly committee meeting time:
Title II, Chapter 28, § 4
According to the SGA By-Laws, the Finance Committee shall:
- Research and recommend to the Senate legislation which shall provide financial information and other such services to Registered Student Organizations.
- Entertain all motions to appropriate monies from the Finance Reserves.
- Research and recommend to the Senate, legislation which shall establish systems of Registered Student Organization revenue generation.
- Assist the Secretary of Finance in the effective implementation Acts of the SGA within the Committee’s jurisdiction.” [T2,C28,S4]
