Subsidiary Governance Body Select Committee

Created by an Act of the Senate (read below), the Subsidiary Governance Body Select Committee is designed to bring the Senate, RHA, House Councils and Area Governments together to solve some of their working problems and create a more cohesive function.

Whereas, communication between the Student Government Association and its subsidiaries has been historically neglected, and;

Whereas, improving the relationship with and effecting reform of subsidiaries should be a paramount goal of the Student Government Association,

Be it enacted, that the Senate establishes the Select Committee on Subsidiary Governance Bodies, which shall be defined as follows:

1.      The Select Committee shall evaluate the structure and roles of subsidiary bodies, with emphasis on issues surrounding the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and Area Governments;

2.      The voting members of the Select Committee shall be composed of five Senators and four representatives of the RHA;

3.      Ex officio members will include the Chief of Staff, Area Governors, the Speaker and Associate Speaker of the Senate, as well as any other individuals the Select Committee deems appropriate;

4.      The Select Committee shall produce a recommendation to the Senate and the Administrative Affairs Committee regarding Title V and Title VII of the Bylaws by the Winter Intersession;

Be it further enacted, that the Speaker shall, with the advice of the Director of RHA and approval of the Senate, appoint the members to the Select Committee.
