Created by an Act of the Senate (see below), the UMass Amherst Day Select Committee is designed to plan a day of events for state legislators that will highlight the amazing work that UMass Amherst students do on a daily basis.
The Speaker of the Senate is currently appointing the members of the committee.

Whereas the State and Federal Organizing Committee is already planning on two Spring Lobby Days and;
Whereas there is interest within that committee, among the executive cabinet, and the administration to work towards a UMass Amherst Day for state legislators to visit the university and;
Whereas there is concern over the State and Federal Organizing Committee overextending itself;
Be it enacted that the Senate create a select committee titled: The UMass Day Organizing Committee.
